We are looking to get new uniforms for both teams – full kits, both home and away if possible for the reason’s below –
1. JV uniforms - The JV uniforms are in shambles. The uniforms are mismatched, have “tape” numbers on the back that are peeling off, and in general don’t look good. These were the varsity uniforms from 8 or 9 years ago and we have made them work as the program was heavily in debt when I took over. There are not enough varsity uniforms to hand down (total of 19 varsity uniforms) to the JV team without us having to order more and continue down the same road. They no longer make the varsity uniform “style” anymore and we would be forced to mix and match again. Our plan as was explained to the kids – get the JV a inexpensive kit that consists of the following – a single pair of shorts, a home and away jersey. These would be basic uniforms with nothing fancy and we would not be getting any new warm ups. This is how it has to be if we are to move forward with a consistent team look.
2. Varsity uniforms – The current varsity uniforms are in pretty good shape except for the fact that the girls don’t like the white (home) uniforms – mostly the shorts. I do believe that the girls have earned the privilege of getting new uniforms both home and away if we can and that is what would like to do assuming cost is not an issue. We discussed getting into a regular rotation of ordering new uniforms every two years either a home or away kit depending on what was needed along with new warm ups. If we get into this rotation it would make logical sense to get nice uniforms ($70 to $100 range) each time and only get one set (home or away) each time and begin handing down those uniforms to the JV as the rotation gets going. We would be able to then ensure we order the proper number and have a better idea of what is needed for both teams.
I have pricing for both teams and will be getting this sorted out this week with Universal athletics with the goal being that both teams get full kits minus warm-ups.
